Lauren Carney (DizzyLittleDotty) Comission

You may have noticed a small (but very noticeable) change to our blog layout recently! I had the pleasure of inserting the commission the beautiful Lauren Carney created for us and I love it! Unfortunately, I'm pretty bad at code/html stuff but I think this portrait makes our blog a lot more 'professional' and a lot more appealing! We've mentioned my favorite polly-pocket sized creative lady on the blog before (you can read the post Tayla wrote over here) but I thought this comission also deserved a mention!

A few weeks back we asked Lauren if she would be able to draw a portrait of the two of us (and our cats, Penny and Jett, of course) as I had been wanting one done for many years (since I first discovered Lauren's art... three years ago!) but never had the chance or money. She stepped right up to the challenge and created this simply adorable portrait and I couldn't thank her enough! I think she captured the differences between Tayla and I perfectly and she even thought to include some super cute Sailor Moon brooches and makeup so we could make use of the portrait on the blog!

If you're at all interested in purchasing some of Lauren's amazing prints or want a commission for yourself, check out Lauren's contact details:

Just a short post for today and sorry for not posting over the past week and a bit! We've just moved houses (we're now a lot closer to the city...yaaay!) and have had a huge mess to clean up, along with no internet- the horror! Thank you all for being patient and thank you again for reading! Love from Maddie xo

  1. What a gorgeous picture, it certainly makes a difference to your lovely blog! Good luck with the moving also!

Sorry to bother you girls, but I'm seeking fashion advice, could you possibly help me out? I have a dance coming up, and I have selected a sort of orange/coral fit and flare dress, but I don't know what shoes to wear. I definitely want flats, (I'm thinking possibly oxfords?) but I have no clue what colour I should go with. Do you girls have any suggestions? Thanks xx

    1. Thank you anonymous!

Brogues (I call them brogues but they're the same as Oxfords) sounds perfect! I love brogues and that would definitely be the kind of thing I would wear with a fit and flare dress! If I wanted to dress it up a little more I would wear these heels I recently purchased (http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/women/shoes/heels-pumps/basque-corinne-black-pump) -I know you wanted flats but these are quite flat, very easy to walk in and the only heels I will actually wear for fun!

I hope that helps a little bit! Thank you xx

    2. If you're not as girly as Maddie you could always try a pair of black boots; if it's a dance you could wear some tight/short boots with a little bit of a heel! Boots or little brogues would look beautiful with a coral dress and maybe a black clutch or jacket just to tie the harshness together! :)

    1. I believe they're around $350-$500 Australian dollars depending on what you're looking for! If you follow her on Instagram she occasionally holds deals and competitions that you can enter so keep an eye out for those!
