Top 5 English Dubs

I'm sure by now you people would understand that I like to make lists. Like a lot of them, which is why this blog is full of posts featuring lists. I wasn't too sure what to make my next blogpost about but then I thought about how well my very first anime/manga post was received (it's our third most popular blog post) so I thought about making a list of my top 5 english dubs for those of you just getting into anime or those of you that haven't quite got the hang of reading subs yet!

Now I'm not going to lie, I normally prefer the subbed version of most anime that I watch, but I always try and watch both the dub and sub so I can compare the two (this is what happens when you have a very limited social life). A lot of these have been mentioned in previous posts, so if you're getting sick and tired of me recommending you the same thing, you can check out my anime and manga list here or you can tell me what anime & manga blogposts you would like to see down in the comments section below!

5. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
Yay! A series that has yet to be mentioned on the blog- hallelujiah! The dub of this mecha and fantasy series is not widely popular and I can see why many fans did not enjoy it, but for some strange reason, I really did! I believe the reasoning for this would be because it was one of the first anime series I has ever watched as a 'teenage' anime fan (I would have been about thirteen or fourteen) and I watched the dub before even thinking about watching the sub. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is set in an alternative timeline where there are basically three "countries" in power- Britannia, the Chinese Federation and the European Union. Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled Britannian prince, gets caught up in a terrorist attack when he is saved by the mysterious C.C. by quickly making a contract with her. This contract grants him the power of 'Geass' or the power to control others on his command. There is so much to this series (with following seasons, OVAs, films, alternative series) and I'm sure many of you will enjoy it!

4. Ouran High School Host Club
I'm going to be a little biased with this one. I love the english cast so much that the original cast did not stand a chance with me. This series is pure gold. If you want something that's easy to watch, that will make you laugh until you can no longer breath and will leave you wanting more (sadly you'll have to read the manga for that), this is the one for you. Along with a few others on this list, I've mentioned OHSHC before, but it really is such a well-rounded and easy to watch series. The dub includes a few of my favorite voice actors such as Vic Mignogna, Todd Haberkorn, Travis Willingham, J. Michael Tatum and Caitlin Glass (if you watch a lot of dubs, their voices will become very recognisable).

3. Soul Eater
I know a lot of people that hate the dub for this one, I on the other hand loved it, and really did prefer it to the subbed version! If you've watched Ouran High School Host Club you will undoubtedly be able to recognise many of the voices present in this dub and if you enjoyed Ouran, I'm sure it will influence how much you enjoy Soul Eater (when it comes to the voice acting at least... the plot is very, very different!). For a little more information on Soul Eater check out one of my previous posts here

2. Eden of the East (Higashi no Eden)
I'm surprised I haven't mentioned Eden of the East on the blog yet, but here it is in all it's glory. Eden of the East is amazing subbed but for reasons unknown to me, I really, really love the dub. I can't even pin point why I love the dub so much, but I do, so obviously it had to be mentioned in this list. Eden of the East is only eleven episodes, along with two movies that "finish" the series titled The King of Eden and Paradise Lost respectively. We follow the story of Akira Takizawa (voiced by one of my favorite english voices actors, Jason Leibrecht) and adorable senior university student, Saki Morimi (Leah Clark) after ten missiles strike Japan on the 22nd of November, 2010, with no casualties. It's fairly difficult to explain without spoiling anything major to the plot of the series, so just trust me and check it out for yourself- it really is an amazing series with a entrancing storyline, hilarious characters and fantastic animation.

1. Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
I'm so sorry. I promised I wasn't going to mention this on another post ever again. But what do you know, I just can't leave Fullmetal Alchemist off of this list. The english cast of both Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood is phenomenal and I pretty much guarantee you will love it just as much as I do! I've mentioned this series in two previous blog posts which you can read here and here for a brief synopsis/why I recommend it!

Remember you guys are more than welcome to suggest posts that you want to see on our blog, anime/manga themed or not!
Thank you for reading, as always
Love from Maddie xo

    1. Whilst I do love Bleach and Fairy Tail, I wouldn't put them in my top 5 english dub list! I'm also not a fan of One Piece or Naruto you can read previous blogposts for my reasoning! Being an anime fan does not depend on how much you've watched or how much manga you've read, though I assure you I've watched, read and enjoyed plenty!
